The Admiral
Edward James Olmos is our beloved Admiral Adama on Battlestar Galactica but in real life he's a highly respected community activist. He is spokesman for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, lends his support to small groups like the Sexto Sol Center for Community Action, and is involved in scores of other civic, humanitarian and environmental efforts to improve our world - for all humanity.
The President
Mary McDonnell's iron-willed Laura Roslin passionately lead the remaining souls of humanity to a new home on Battlestar Galactica. In our reality, the Oscar-nominated actress is a proponent of the fights against lyme disease and autism, and is involved with groups like City at Peace and Elizabeth Taylor's AIDS Foundation.
The Fighter
Katee Sackhoff won hearts and minds as Adama's go-to and ace pilot Starbuck. In the here and now, she joins Tricia Helfer in the fight for the compassionate treatment of animals and in preservation and restoration of our environment. She also has formed Fly Free Charity to distribute funds from items sold on her website to benefit charities of her choosing.
The Son
Between instances of epic heroism, our dear Apollo was often confused about the course and commitments of his life. His real-life counterpart Jamie Bamber, however, has committed himself to children's medical causes, participating in athletic events to benefit the fight against diseases like leukemia and serving as an ambassador for the charity SPARKS in the U.K.
The Seductress
Tricia Helfer seduced Gaius Baltar in more ways than we can count as the sexy Six model on Battlestar Galactica. On our planet Earth of today, Ms. Helfer's love and compassion for animals has led her to be a devoted advocate for the fair treatment of all creatures. Not just a friend of the furry critters in our world, though, she also has her sights set on saving our environment.
The Volunteer
From a brash, naive youth to a tough, seasoned veteran, Bodie Olmos gave us a character we could identify with in his Brendan 'Hot Dog' Constanza. Many of us can also identify with his real-life passion for sports, which he has turned into an opportunity to help others through fund-raising for important causes, including the American Cancer Society.
The Loyalist
Cylon or not, Michael Trucco brought sincerity and a down-to-earth charm to the loyal Sam Anders, husband of Starbuck on Battlestar Galactica. A compassionate and giving heart leads Mr. Trucco to support his fellow human beings through charity drives with groups like Food on Foot in Los Angeles.
The Fifth
The versatile and talented Kate Vernon gave us a dynamic, stand-by-her-man performance as the often-volatile, booze-swilling Ellen Tigh in Battlestar Galactica. She taps that incredible energy for causes like Greenpeace, breast cancer awareness, and the Los Angeles-based Food on Foot.
The Faithful
A fount of young wisdom and unerringly faithful, Kandyse McClure's Anastasia Dualla touched the heart of many of the Battlestar Galactica faithful. She touches lives in ways other than acting, too, lending her support to the global education initiative 1GOAL and working with other charities, including the Los Angeles-based Food on Foot.
The Traitor
The talented Rekha Sharma sent shivers down our spines with her turncoat performance in the final episodes of Battlestar Galactica, but an inner joy and peace fuel her charitable endeavours on behalf of people and charities around the world. From disaster relief through Amma to supporting local theater and arts to working with disadvantage youths, Rekha reaches out.
The Virtuous
Helo's strict adherence to his ethics often impeded his Battlestar Galactica leaders but they would no doubt cheer Tahmoh Penikett's personal devotion to special causes. He supports such groups as Food on Foot in L.A., and Caleb's Hope, which lends aid to women and children affected by war, poverty, and HIV/AIDS.
The Committed
Almost from day one, Grace Park's cylon alter-ego Sharon on Battlestar Galactica made a choice to ally herself with the man she loved and his people, committing herself to make a difference and to be different. Ms. Park has done so in her life as well, aligning herself with causes such as PETA and Caleb's Hope, choosing to make a difference in our world for animals, and her fellow human beings.
The Conscience
Like his first love Dualla, Battlestar Galactica's Billy Keikya possessed a wisdom beyond his years and a giving heart, a trait his offscreen alter-ego, Paul Campbell, has funneled into a commitment to the Children's Lifesaving Foundation in Santa Monica, an organization dedicated to 'totally transforming the lives' of homeless, poor and at-risk youth in L.A.
The Scribe
Writer and co-executive producer of Battlestar Galactica, Jane Espenson supports several charities, including Kiva, an organization formed to help fight poverty by connecting people around the world through lending with the goal of creating economic opportunity.
